Groups of elaborately dressed ladies and gentlemen dance on to the beat of their own music or their own drum band. Hours in advance, people will line the streets along which people will walk. The many stalls along the road with the smell of different Surinamese dishes complete the atmosphere. With the glorious sun and refreshing gusts of wind, various artists and an exuberant crowd, all the ingredients for a successful 4-day event are present.

The Business Association Sport and Games (BVSS) has been around for 51 years and, in addition to the Business Football Competition, annually organizes its traditional walking march through Paramaribo and the surrounding area immediately after Easter.

The walking event has also integrated elements of the South American Carnival. It is great fun to see the singing and swinging crowds, often dressed in fantasy and colorful clothing! Every day, so to speak, about 15 km is covered while dancing. Most participants run in groups, the rest are all individual runners. It is a wonderful event that you should not miss.
